Turning modules on
The nine optional modules are account settings. If one is missing from your sidebar it has not been switched on, and an ordinary member cannot switch it on themselves.
Two ways this happens
Which applies depends on how your organisation bought Trackapt.
If your supplier manages your account for you
You do nothing. Ask your supplier to switch the module on. They do it from their own console, and it takes effect as soon as they have.
If you manage your own account
Where Trackapt runs on your organisation's own installation, modules are switched on with a licence key — one long line of characters, starting TAG1, sent to you by support. Only the account holder can apply one: the Modules entry is in their sidebar, and nobody else's.
- Open Modules in the sidebar.
- Under Apply a licence key, paste the whole key exactly as it was sent.
- Click Apply key.
- The modules it covers are listed under Switched on, and the key appears under Licence key on record, with its reference and the date it runs until.
A key states the whole set of modules. Applying one replaces whatever was in force rather than adding to it, so a key that leaves a module out switches that module off.
A key only works on this installation
It was issued for this installation alone and is refused on any other. If the key is refused, contact support. If the screen says This installation cannot accept licence keys yet, contact support and quote the reference it shows.
When a key runs out
A key can carry an end date, shown under Licence key on record. Once it passes, the key reads Expired and the modules it switched on are off. Nothing recorded through them is deleted. Contact support for a new key and apply it the same way.
Removing a key
Remove key, under the key on record, takes it off this installation and switches its modules off for everyone, after asking. Nothing already recorded is deleted, and you can paste the same key back while it is still in date.
When a newly switched-on module appears
The sidebar is built from your account's details, which the app reads when it loads and when you sign in.
- The account holder who applies a key sees the new module in the sidebar straight away.
- Everybody else who is already signed in sees it once they reload the app, or sign out and back in.
Switching one off
A module can be switched off. Doing so hides its screens; it does not delete what was recorded through them. Switch it back on and the data is there.
What switching a module on changes
Nothing that already works. A module adds screens over the items you already keep — it does not migrate anything, does not alter your forms or reports, and does not change any existing figure.
Before you turn one on
Each module has a short setup sequence, and doing it in the wrong order lands you on a screen with nothing to offer. Read the Setting it up section of the module's own page first:
| Module | Set up first |
|---|---|
| Retail | Locations, then sellable items |
| Maintenance | Assets and their criticality, then services |
| Fuel and fleet | Tanks, then opening dips, then vehicles |
| Weighbridge | Bridges and their ticket prefixes, then tares |
| Property | Units, then tenants, then leases |
| Procurement | Suppliers, then tolerances |
| Time and attendance | An Employees group labelled and its fields confirmed, then workers enrolled with supervisors named, card ids and shift patterns |
| Micro-finance | The lending settings (currency, time zone, morning-message hour), then borrowers and their assessments |
| Mining | The tracker group and the items the ground is surveyed against, then a pickup to import |
