The dashboard

Dashboard in the sidebar. The current standing of everything you can see, on one screen.

What is on it

Figures for the tracked items in the tracker groups you are whitelisted on — and only those. Two people looking at the same dashboard see different totals if they are whitelisted differently, and neither is wrong.

It updates itself

The dashboard is live. When somebody records a reading, the figure changes in front of you without a refresh and without the page jumping.

There is a spinner, and it belongs to you

The refresh control on a card spins while you have asked for a fresh read. A figure arriving on its own — pushed because somebody else recorded it — leaves the spinner alone. If something is spinning, a request you made is still in flight.

Choosing the period

The badge beside each group's name shows the period, for example OCTOBER 2026. Press it to open Choose Period — one of the last twelve months, or a custom range — and every card follows. The dashboard opens on the current month so far. When this month has no figures yet, it opens on the latest month with figures and says so above the cards.

Against the plan

Where a parameter carries a plan, its dial, its variance and its green-or-red standing are measured against it. Where the plan is set by period, the figure is judged against the period the reading falls in — so a January reading is held to January's plan and a February one to February's, with no setting on the dashboard to change.

Each reading is held to the plan in force on its own day. Where the plan changed inside the period, the dial's tooltip and the card it opens say so, one line per change — Target changed on 15 Oct: 100 → 120 — and the plan per item reads as typed, 100 → 120. The card's export carries the same lines.

A parameter whose goal is Reading has no plan, and shows the reading alone.

Range-based figures

A computed figure worked out once over the whole period has a dial beside the group's other figures, whether or not it adds up. What its dial is measured against depends on Accumulates:

  • Does not add up — a percentage or a rate. Its dial is measured against the plan set on its parameter, as it stands at the end of the period. Where that plan may not suit a period, the dial's tooltip says why and how to fix it.
  • Adds up, with a plan by period on its parameter — its dial is measured against the period's plan, spread over the days on screen, and turns green or red like any other.
  • Adds up, with no plan for the period — its dial shows the figure alone and reads No target. It is neither green nor red, and its arc runs from zero to the figure rather than towards a plan. Its details read No target too.

Most range-based figures that add up read No target

Only a plan by period on the figure's own parameter gives its dial a target, and no screen sets one on a computed figure: the group's settings show no Plan for a range-based figure that adds up, and a mine plan publishes onto recorded parameters only. So these dials read No target and show the figure alone.

To judge such a figure for one period, type a target on Period Reports. That target is for its row on that screen, while the page is open. It is not saved, and the dial still reads No target.

If the figure is a percentage or a rate, untick Accumulates in the group's settings: it is then measured against the plan set on its parameter.

A figure that adds up but whose unit is a percentage or a rate carries a warning in its dial's tooltip: such a figure does not add up over a period, so untick Accumulates in the group's settings to measure it against its own plan.

A range-based figure capped at the last date every input has figures carries a marker on its dial when it stops early. Hover the dial to see where it stops and why; its details and the card's export say the same.

Hidden groups

Groups you have hidden are left off the dashboard until you turn Show hidden on.

Hiding is display only. A hidden group is still in every total, every balance, every report and every computed figure — it is simply not drawn on this screen and on the groups list. If you want a group out of the numbers, you want parking instead.

Widgets

The dashboard is assembled from widgets, and you can build your own — a chart, a grid, a tile showing exactly the figure your morning meeting asks for. See Widget Studio.

Taking it away

Every card that shows meaningful data carries the standard action set in its header: reading-mode preview, Excel, PDF, print and share. A group's card exports its dials and, in a section of their own, the group's other range-based figures — Leave out range-based figures in the card's Export menu leaves out every one of them, dials included, from that group's exports. See Taking data away.
